These remind me of eggnog - I have to make a triple recipe each year.
Nutmeg Cookie Logs
3 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1 tsp nutmeg
3/4 cup sugar
1 unbeaten egg
2 tsp EACH vanilla and rum flovoring
Sift flour & nutmeg
Cream butter and gradually add sugar - cream well
Add flavorings and egg.
Add dry ingredients gradually and mix well.
Shape dough into logs 1/2" thick and cut into 3" logs. Place on ungreased sheets. Bake @350 for 12 - 15 minutes. Cool and frost with the following:
Cream 3 Tbsp with 1/2 tsp vanilla and 1 tsp rum flavoring. Blend in 1/2 cup sifted confectioner's sugar - beat well. Add 2 additional cups of confectioners sugar alternately with 2 - 3 Tbsp milk (evaporated, whole 2% or whatever you have). Beat well until spreading consistency. Frost each log and either sprinkle top with nutmeg or red/green sugar sprinkles.
