Can I tell you, I never knew how to read those patterns either but I knew how to crochet..my "nonna" taught me when I was a child so I never knew the name for the stitches..but I watched some tutes on You Tube and since you can follow as they crochet and they name the stitches, I have become really much better at reading the books....and the magazine "Crochet Today" has diagrams to go with the patterns and it gets easier with each one you do...try it..
