It stands for featherweight. They are the older machines, Singer, I think. Just straight stitch.
OH, I think I have one. It is a White/ goes back and forth. My husband bought it for me used(underlined) on our first wedding annversary 49 years ago. Does that make it a featherweight. Because it sure is heavy to me!!!!! I don't mean to sound flip, I am just wondering if an FW is just a Singer or any machine that goes back and forth and is an older machine.
