The FQ's she sent would work fine in a sampler row, and I like the peace sign suggestion as one of the sampler blocks!
(To make a peace sign pattern draw a circle the size of your block. Draw a vertical line down the center. Draw the two legs either side of the center line so they meet at the circle center and form a right angle with each other. With these lines as the centers, widen the lines to fit the scale of the block.)
