I started attacking the scraps again. I cut lots of 1.5" strips, and then cut these into logs for a traditional log cabin. This time I chose a "5-star" arrangement, and decided to fill the center of the 5 stars with yellow and gold fabrics. The back is also made from scraps of various sizes, pieced into 12" blocks. The binding is made from binding scraps left over from other projects, and from the strips cut off the sides of the back of this quilt after it was quilted. I organized my strips the same way as before (http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-23612-1.htm) - this method really works for me. I got the idea from Judy Martin's log cabin book. After using up all those scraps, guess what - there's still more! Finished quilt is 102" square. Thanks for looking.
