I am doing some fmq and can't get going. Tension is not right on the bottom. I think I can adjust that OK by trial and error, but the question I have is this:

Do you normally use a quilting needle or a universal needle? Seems like there are so many variables I am going to be here all night trying stuff. I have Q. needles from size 75 to 90 and I have universals size 80. Would appreciate help. Am using Coats & Clark all purpose thread.
