This is one beautiful quilt and it shows the hills and valleys that your mom feels. If it were me (and I know its not)I would not change anything. It makes me feel as if you mom's feelings are in this quilt and perhaps it is her healing "blankey" (I surely pray so) to shelter her from harm. Good luck and many prayers for your mom and for you.
