I smooth my two layers together with one cut 1+ inches bigger on all sides. I bring that over the edge for binding. Makes a very nice finished edge. The corners are not fun to fold, but not too hard. When it's washed, that cut edge softens and disappears. Just looks like a binding.
That looks really nice! I have a black cocker spaniel, so understand about the dog hair! :-) I'll try this on another piece of fleece & see if I can make it look right.
