yes you can. the walking foot has the same wide opening as the other feet. I move mine all the time (Bernina 1090). sure the new ones must be the same. one shift to the right with Bernina usually works for 1/4".
but the best test of your seam width is still to sew 3 pieces (1 1/2" w x 4" long) together on the long sides. press carefully. should measure 3 1/2" wide. adjust by making smaller or larger seam by how this turns out. if it is less than the 3 1/2",you are taking too big a seam. and if it is more, you are taking too small a seam. using fabric that is your project.
