It is a wonderful quilt. I think you should include a letter when you gift it to ensure your son and DIL realize the family heritage and history that is in the quilt. You can not take for granted that they will cherish it as much as you obviously do, given it has so many generations of your family in it. Could not hurt to make them aware of that fact as well.
