I can relate! I had to go buy a new machine because mine died in mid-stitich.
I try really hard not to use my hobby for any deadline work. My hobby is supposed to be just for me and my de-stressing. When I get some project done, I give it to someone or not. That way, it is really a gift of MY heart. And not a &%$%deadline I have to finish.
I would like to recommend borrowing or renting a machine or just quilting them a little by hand and giving them anyway.
But isn't it wonderful to have a "room" full of people who understand you?
