if you use "steam a seam 2 lite" to fuse it down then do your blanket stitch it should not fray, at most it may be a little fuzzy on the edge. the lite is not hard to sew thru and is still soft
I have not had good luck with my blanket stitch, when it's washed the stitches move and twist and look terrible!
