I don't pre-wash, because I really don't want to pre-wash my batting too. I allow them all to shrink together, if they're going to. I use batt with a bit of poly and it doesn't shrink as much as the 100% cotton, which can shrink up to 5%. Plus, I like the old-fashioned look of a little bit crinkly.
