I personally love the hand sewing when attaching binding.It's therapy. I use the ladder stitch which goes quickly and you don't need to pin or clip the binding.
I do lots of preemie quilts to donate and can't always hand sew them due to time restraints so I machine sew using this method. Scroll down and watch the video. It's really slick.
