I'll be doing a qayg at some point and was wondering the same thing. I was thinking I would fold back the backing and batting, and sew the top with a quarter inch seam, then lay the batting and backing flat and over lapping, fold under one side of the over lapped backing, and press, then top stitch over that. There will be a seam in the back, a seam where you'd normally find one on the front, but no sashing. It works in my head... :lol:
