I made a queen size hand quilted flannel quilt and we use it all winter long. Front and back are flannel. I used a thicker thread than quilting thread (I think it was called Jean thread) and I made a little longer stitches. Quilting thread and small stitches get buried in the nap. I hope this is what you wanted for ideas.
