Hopefully the pictures helped. I'm such a visual person, I learn best by seeing it rather than reading how to do it.

In quilting we almost always press the seams to one side (usually the dark side), but in clothing construction, you always press seams open. I sewed clothes before getting started in quilting and that's where I picked up that pressing open at least one side makes such a difference after you turn it right side out.
