I am sure that if the feed dogs drop, it will be fine. You may have to play with tensions some but our grandmothers quilted on all sorts of machines when they didn't hand quilt. I have a Euro Pro serger that is about 10 years old and it is a workhorse! The main thing is have patience with yourself and practice.
