When I stitch the binding down by machine (not my favorite method) I pin very close together on the front, making sure the pins are through the binding on the back. And I go very slowly. I think it might be Amma that uses elmer's school glue to hold hers in place. You put a thin line of glue along the edge of the quilt, fold binding over it and press down to set the glue. Elmer's is water soluble, so it washes out when you wash your project. And it's not sticky, so "they" say. (O: I've not tried this method yet myself.
