We're empty nesters and scaled back this year but I'm not happy about that after all. Just didn't have the holiday feeling without the decorations and family. One son has his own family with little children (we visited on Thursday) and the other son is in the Air Force in Alaska. My sister usually joins in on Christmas but she's scheduled for surgery on Tuesday and unable to make it. My brother is a widower and stayed home this year, so it just seemed very empty to me. Next year will be different somehow; I don't how yet, but it will be.
