Several years ago, my male cat sprayed on the carpet in my bathroom. I used everything I could think of with no luck -then started analyzing the problem. Urine is close to ammonia, isn't it? It burns your eyes anyway. -right? So, I sprayed ammonia on it and let it dry and voila - no more odor.
