Can you show more pics? Love your work!
Well, since it was only my 2nd quilt and I was pretty clueless, i embroidered the ladies using very thin poly batting, with a thin non-woven stabelizer (sp?). The smaller gold squares were also embroidered the same way. I then pieced the top. The print blocks and sashing were just fabric. I didn't have any trouble dealing with the 2 thicknesses of material, but did use a walking foot to do the piecing. Then i did the sandwich, so the embroidered squares actually have 2 layers of batting. I didn't do any additional quilting on the embroidered squares but just before I gifted it, I was throwing away the bag the batting came in and noticed that you had to quilt every 5 inches. The larger embroidered squares were 8. Hmmm. thought about buttons, tying with some ribbon etc. My sewing center dealer suggested using bar tacks, which is what I did. Just tacked a few places. I actually like the way it turned out. Embroidering on the batting gave it some dimension. I gave it away already, so I can't post any more pictures!
