Hmm, not sure what you mean by the clear plastic? Do you mean the cutting pad? You put the die, blade side (foam side) up on the platform. Put the fabric on the die, then put the plastic cutting pad on top, then roll this 'sandwich' thru the cutter. If you run the dies thru the machine without the pad on top you may damage your die and/or the pressure roller.
