The only thing I'd wonder about with using the silk or satin fabrics is that some of them don't have the same 'crispness' that the cotton fabric has. But I'd say give it a try and see how you like the results. You might try a very lightweight iron-on interfacing if you think it's needed to get the crisp creases on the triangles.
