One of the first threads I read on the QB was about making people a fleece throw to gauge their reaction to home-made gifts, before committing to making a quilt for them. Be glad you got this reaction, rude as it is, for a 4-hour bag instead of a 40-hour quilt.
Next year I would suggest making a charity donation in their name.
