I am just starting to do my own FMQ on my Brother home sewing machine. My first 10 or so quilts were sent to a long arm quilter. I can't afford a long arm, nor do I have the space, nor can I afford to buy fabric and other quilting fun stuff and pay a long arm quilter eventho she is very reasonable. Its is also a pride thing I want the whole quilt to be done by me. Practice is the key the more I do the more comfortable I get. I just stippled a nice size wall hanging and I used clear thread to hide the mistakes. I used muslin for the backing and that is where I had some issues. I did not secure the sandwich well enough ...not enough pins and I hate basting I am going to try the spray next time but is will be hanging in my quilt room and no one will see the back. The front looks good.
