Family members and relatives are hard to please most of the time - I, too, found that out the hard way. But the members of my DH's family appreciate any hand-made item I make for them, since they know I learned quilting from their grandmother.
The only thing my brother and SIL enjoy receiving from me are home-made cookies since they don't make them.
