Return it! Explain to the gifters that you really appreciated that their heart was in the right place, but that the "other" cutting system would serve your hobbies better. Anyone with a care for your interests wouldn't be upset. If it were me, I'd be glad you spoke up and got what you needed.
It's better than having an expensive gadget collecting dust and giving you hard feelings.
