I had a worn hook tip a few years ago and it was going to cost well over $100.00 to replace the part, but the service man told me he could actually "file the burr" and it would probably work for a while. ( He explained that the hook had a "burr" on it that was rough and causing the stitches to mess up ) I told him to file it, and the cost was very little and it has worked fine for several years now.
