I have the mega quilter and I love it. In the beginning I used it on the frame and I had no problems with it.
The first thing I would do is clean it, oil it(it loves a lot of oil), check for any small threads that might be hiding, rethread it, and try again. If the thread is breaking the tension may be off and you might have to play with it to get it correct.
