That is a very, very pretty quilt. I guess the border depends on how much bigger you want to go. I think I would add about 2-3" of white fabric first, then maybe make a scalloped effect, kind of like piano keys but varying the amount of white in each key. I did something like that in this quilt:

I love that border, dunster. I was going to say that the quilt did not even need a border until I saw yours.
I would wash the quilt in Synthrapol to get out any stray dye, and then Retayne to set the colors permanently.
