Unfortunately, Grandma's treadle was electrified for her, then stored carelessly by someone before we discovered it. I was so disappointed. By the way, she started her sewing "career" at age 6, and sewed until she was 90 or 91. When Grandpa was away at war, wealthy people would have Grandma move into their home to make wardrobes for each family member. By the time she completed the work in one home, another family would be asking her to come to their home. That is how she made a living during that time. I think that is so cool! She also joined other ladies to make cloth bandages to be sent to soldiers. As for quilting, the only evidence I have of her trying it is a half-done handmade yo-yo quilt that Mom said Grandma had started many years ago.
Good luck getting your treadle. I think they are charming, and I always have been drawn to the more basic ways of doing things.
Looking forward to hearing form you again...
