So glad you have been bitten by the quilting bug, it is so much fun!

Hi Annie :c)

The stuffing is what got me. I wanted to use a foam pad because I was afraid that polyfil or some other type of stuffing would eventually bunch up. But when I called around to see how much it would cost me, the cheapest price I found for a pad to fit it was $70.00! I ended up using some old eggshell mattress toppers that I glued together using spray adhesive. The bottom of the bed has an open slit like you see on throw pillow covers so the padding can be taken out to wash the cover. :c)

I hit that same dilemma when trying to make cushions for my Grandma's old metal porch glider. Goodwill or a thrift store sometimes has old furniture that is not good, but still has good foam in the cushions. I ripped off the old covers, sprayed the foam with Lysol, and used an electric carving knife, and had the sizes I needed at no cost.
Bet Dillon loves his bed! It's big enough to stretch out on.
Welcome to the board from Texas, too!
