I have a similar Singer machine with the same way to wind a bobbin.
I find I have the best result if I make sure to wrap the thread around the screw for the pressor foot by going under the screw and wrapping the thread towards me.
If I go over the top of the screw and wrap away from me it doesn't work as well. Don't know if that will make any difference for you.
