For those of you who enjoyed Jodi Picoult's House Rules try
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon. It give amazing insight into the workings of an autistic mind. Haddon has worked with autistic children and adults for years and draws on his experience to write an excellent story.

For those of you who enjoyed Abraham Verghese, have you tried his non-fiction works? My Own Country - A Doctor's Story is a wonderful book detailing a free clinic he set up in Johnson City, TN.

The Tennis Partner is the story of the slow fall into drugs of his tennis partner. The tennis partner is one of those people you'd never expect to fall into addiction. It's another great read.
