Sure you can! I use Bottom Line in my bobbin (60wt) and King Tut (40wt) most of the time. I've used 60wt bobbin with 50wt and 60wt on top as well. If I'm going to use 12 wt, 20wt or 30wt on top, I'll use a 50wt or 40wt in the bobbin so the weights aren't too different.
