We bought a small inexpensive intercom that we placed in his computer room in the loft and one in my sewing room and we can converse when we want or need to without yelling. If one answers the phone and is for the other we just push the button and talk. It works great. We always eat our meals together while we watch a little TV and then we spend time with each other. It really works for us. Just celebrated our 50th.
