I had the same problem a couple weeks ago, advice from here got me to purchase ball point needs. IT WORKED! Yeah for this board.

Mine has never given me any problems like that. I would maybe change the needle and adjust the pressure foot tention on top of the machine. Other then that I wouldn't be able to help you.
