Edited to add: Do some people do the applique on the border strips before attaching them to the quilt body? It seems to me that would be easier.
No, please don't feel you overstepped any bounds. I'm a new quilter and really looking for the advice here. :D I've done applique on the border strips before adding them once before but wanted to try something new this time. If I do the applique this time, I'm going to hand applique the pieces to swirl around the corner so that's why I added the border pieces first this time. It's a new style/technique and I wanted this quilt to sort of get me out of my newbie quilter comfort zone...it's done just that, too! :wink:
