I started my grand kids as soon as they showed interest. Some were 4 or 5 at the time and some weren't interested until 13 or 14. My 6 yr old grand daughter sets up the embroidery machine, hoops her shirts and embroiders the designs on them herself. Another grand daughter (15) is making her 3rd quilt and a grand son is making his second. It's like anything else, if they want to learn they will absorb everything you say and show them, if not interested, their minds will be in lala land.
