I know all about those Marines! Mine is Navy, but the years since retirement have softened him a little. He still gets upset if anything bothers me, but otherwise he's becoming easier.
I know what you mean about watching how upset I get. Mine is getting better but it took a while. We had to talk about it so we are both on the same page. He also had to get use to people not jumping when he asked for something. I thought my girls and I had trained him (we always said we were his reality check) but years and years of Marine Corps, Naval Academy and Marine Military School in Tx were hard to change.
