I wouldn't have believed this if I hadn't tasted the results myself.

I always buy Pure Cane Sugar but I saw a sale at a local grocery for sugar that was a good buy. I have made a gallon of sweet tea several times a week for years so I know my sweet tea. I always use 1 1/2 cups of sugar per gallon. I made a gallon of tea, used 1 1/2 cups of the sale sugar and it tasted too unsweet for us. I added more sugar and it took over 2 cups to get the same taste as before. I looked on the package of sugar and it wasn't pure cane sugar and I believe it was beet sugar with filler added. DD made a batch of cookies that always tasted great. She used the sale sugar and the cookies turned out flat and dough tasting. The sale sugar wasn't a good bargain at all. Be careful of sugar that isn't pure cane sugar, you are wasting your money especially if you use it in your baking.
