I wonder; perhaps a cork tiles(board) placed high on the wall and then you could tack the backing, etc onto it and then the wall would not be damaged. Also, if one is thinking that the cork might leave a stain on the backing you could cover the tile with plastic wrap or whatever works and proceed with sandwiching your quilt. What do you think? This might only be one solution.
