Well, here is my rant:

I bought a quilt kit last year, because the free pattern was so gorgeous. This was a splurge for me, and I bought extra fabric so I could add a large border to make it a bigger quilt too.

Assuming that Benartex is good quality fabric, I thought this was a sure bet for success.

I can't remember working with such cheesy fabric ever before! A lot of the fabric quarters are stripes and plaids. Guess how distorted they got in the prewashing? Can't fix it with ironing either. What a pain to cut the strips for this LOG CABIN pattern!!!

Now I am trying to piece it and it moves all over the place, like it was made with elastic or something. I will have to stop and spray starch and iron every segment for this to turn into a quilt that looks decent.

My Irish temper wants to wad it up and throw it in the fire, but I will persevere.

Lesson learned! Don't buy Benartex, and don't buy fat quarter kits with plaids and stripes!
