I drive by you all the time when I go from Washington to Reno to see my parents! It is so beautiful there, but I certainly hate driving through the Blues during the winter with all the snow you get there. What a wonderful place to live!!
The Blue Mountains ARE totally different, aren't they???
I have only been through them once, south of Pendleton/La Grande, actually, and I think I am pretty accurate saying that I haven't seen anything like them here in Washington, Idaho, or Wyoming/Montana way.
Other than that, I am not very well-travelled, so I can't explain the difference, but the Blue Mountains are different.
The time I was in them was over thirty years ago so traveling through them may have changed, but they seemed so - - maybe the word is "bleak" ...
Keep in mind that I was the person driving, so what I surmised was viewed through that lens, rather than actually getting to look at them - - not only well-travelled, I don't do tourist, either <g> <wave> I know you were typing to the Meacham girl, but I do so appreciate Eastern Oregon that I couldn't help but jump in ;)
