This quilt is simply lovely and I adore how you left a big blank square in the middle to show off some quilting. Your leaves are so realistic and delicate I too think a satin stitch would detract and I have never done raw edge applique but have seen it done. I think if over time the leaves' fabric begins to fray a bit it would add some lovely character to those leaves.

Are they fusibled down right now? If so I would think that would also deter fraying of any more then 1/16" of an inch if even that.
