This is called Sara's Garden from Quiltmaker Sept/Oct 2001 No 81 magazine. It's original completed size is 43" x 54 1/2" but I've chosen to make it slightly smaller to accomodate my supply of scraps. It was slightly challenging since I was dipping into my stash of scraps and had to come up with coordinating colors, but I think overall it is coming out rather well. I plan to use it as a wall hanging on my "display wall" near the front door. It didn't take long to make, and this is the first time I have worked on this kind of pattern. I tried to applique the leaves and attached them with wonder under. Did not have any issues with that stuff, but the fabric began to pucker when I did the applique. I have decided to wait to applique it until I layer everything and get to the final quilting process. I used an applique technique when I made my son a table runner and it turned out fabulous so I am going to do that with this one too.
What do you think?

just finished the sashes with the leaves
