Last night I had been chain piecing a Hunter's Star quilt I just started working on, and I cut the pieces apart and showed him how to remove the pins, which he did quite well, I might add.

This morning I showed him how to press seams while I chain pieced some more. He was a little hesitant, made all kinds of pressing comments, about how he was pressed for time, how the pressure was almost too much, he was getting steamed, etc., but he persevered and managed to press seams quite well while I sewed the next batch. When I was finished, I gave him a break and finished pressing while he removed the pins again. I had missed cutting one chain stitch holding two pieces together, and I told him exactly where to cut and he did that well too! This guy can be taught, but let's see how his information retention is after being distracted by life for a while.....
