I use a vintage iron when I press fabric for quilting. The thing weighs at least 5 pounds and is a dry iron - no steam. I use a Shark to iron my clothes for work. My husband bought it at Lowe's for 15.00 (they still sell it for 17.00 now) 5 or 6 years ago to do a carpet repair on his job site. He used the iron one time and stuck it in a cabinet at the house. A few months later, my B&D iron bit the dust, so I grabbed the Shark to use temporarily until I could get out to buy a new Iron. It has been used every day that I worked for the last 5 years. It has been dropped, over filled, run dry, knocked off the ironing board, fallen into the trash can - you name it it has been through it. It has never leaked once. It does have the auto shut off but it heats up so fast I don't even notice it. If you want a good iron, for 17.00 it can't be beat. I know how much it is because I am going to get another one as a back up.
