I've done it both ways. I am not particularly fond on large loc cabin projects. I think you work too hard for the benefit you get. However, for some projects, I like to paper piece them, such as the picture below. My guild is called Log Cabin so I designed this to use as our logo and for us to make placemats for our guests at our retreats. Sometimes I make it with the usual 2 chimneys, but I was in a hurry that evening.
